About
TreesUpstate is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2005, dedicated to planting, promoting, and protecting trees across Anderson, Greenville, Oconee, Pickens, and Spartanburg Counties. To date, we have planted and given away over 50,000 trees in parks, schools, neighborhoods, and other public spaces—focusing especially on areas that need them most. We champion the many benefits trees bring, including cleaner air, shade, energy savings, and an improved quality of life. Through education and technical support, we help guide local policies and long-term planning to protect and expand the tree canopy. Our annual Turkey Day Run draws thousands, with 7,000 participants last year alone, while a dedicated volunteer base of over 15,000 people helps power our mission. By raising awareness, increasing access to trees in underserved communities, and providing strategic support, TreesUpstate is committed to building a greener, healthier Upstate for generations to come.
